There are many defenses to charges involving violent crimes. The defenses include the newly enacted "Stand Your Ground" law. Other defenses include accident, self-defense, defense of others, defense of property, and necessity.
Enhanced Sentences for Firearms
An individual charged with a violent crime in Florida may face enhanced penalties for possession or use of a firearm during the offense under the 10/20/Life Statute (Section 775.087). Individuals charged with most violent felony offenses are subject to a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison if a firearm was in possession during the offense, 20 years in prison if the firearm was discharged, and 25 years to life if he or she caused serious injury or death with the firearm.
Our attorneys employ successful strategies to combat these serious offenses and penalties. If you or someone you know is charged with a violent crime, contact and Orlando Violent Crimes Attorney at Michael J. Snure, P.A., at 407-469-6200 to schedule a consultation.
